This course aims to create a strong base on which the student can build his/her musical skills by learning new concepts the student continues his/her musical voyage in a more intricate way. After finishing this level the student is expected to develop certain performing skills and should be able to present any raga coming in the syllabus.

1. Shadja & Swara sadhana
Learning to sing perfect ‘Sa’ with Tanpura along with other Swaras. Understanding Komal, Tivra swara riyaz & Akar Riyaz.
2. Learning Alankar, Swara Paltas, Raga based Alankar.
Understanding 10 mid – Alankars with three and four swara combinations. Shuddha swara paltas with taal along with Raga Alankar and Raga Palta.
3. Raga Exploration.
Starting with Aroh, Avaroh, Pakad, Sargam Geet, Chota Khayal , Astai-Antara alap, Bol alap and taanas. Understanding the Ragas : Bhoop, Bageshree, Bhimapalasi, Durga, Khamaj, Kafi, Des, Yaman .
4. Learning Laxangeet.
Preparation for 2 different raga laxangeet with different taal from the 4 given ragas.
5. Understanding Dhrupad.
Introduction to Dhrupad and its information. Preparing Dhrupad along with notations and taal choutaal. Concluding with preparing for any 2 Raga Dhrupad.
6. Learning Bhajan.
Learning the Bhajan details. Understanding the lyrics & exploring more bhajans to prepare one, such as Achyutam Keshvam bhajan.
7. Practicing Taal & Laya.
Introduction of 3 types of Laya: Vilambita, Madhya & Druta. Study of the given taal such as Teentaal, Zaptaal, Rupak, Bhajan Theka, Dadra, Keherava, Ektaal, Choutaal. Practicing by hand & dugun.
8. Art of listening.
Listening to understand Raga, Dhrupad, Bhajan, Recordings, etc. Learning to identify different musical aspects such as taal and raga.
9. Practice Session / Exam Preparation.
Practicing Alankar, Swara, Raga, Alap, Taan, Akar, LaxanGeet, Bandish Notation. Going extra mile to practice Alankar. Practice of Raga Paltas with Tabla. Concluding with complete practice sessions from exam point of view.
10. Theory.
Understanding information related to definitions of Music, Sound, Naad, Swara, Vikrut Swara, Varjit Swara, Saptak, Alankar, LaxanGeet, Matra, Khali, Sam, etc. Defining Raga’s Information for Thaat, Vadi, Samvadi, Varja, Swara, Samay.
