Practical Exam
1. Play a Tabla solo at least for 20 minutes in following Taal – Teentaal, Zhaptaal and Rupak. inculcate Kaida, Rela, Gat, Tukde, Chakradhaar etc. in your performance.
2. To be able to accompany classical and semi- classical. essentials – Khayal, Bandish, Thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Kajri etc.
3. To be able to recite and play minimum five Gharane Daar Gat of Poorab Baaj in Teentaal and Zaptaal by maintaining Taal on hand.
4. Ability to play minimum one Kaida and one Rela in teeshra jaati which should be in Teentaal, Zaptaal and Rupak.
5. State the details found while providing accompaniment to Kathak, the difference occurs in the recitation (Padhant) and Nikas (actual playing). Play few compositions of Kathak and explain the Nikas.
6. Play a Kaida and explain the Nikas of a it.
7. Play Kaida or Tukda Etc. which has Bol like Ghidanaga, Dingadinagina, Dathrakadhikita and Gadigana etc.
8. Doing Padhant (recitation) of Kaida, Rela or Tukda Etc in Teentaal, Zaptaal and Rupak. Play Theka of the Taal in which the composition is simultaneous.
9. Ability to play or sing at least one Nagama (Lehera).
Written Exam
1. Write a Kaida in notation system, which has same Bol / Bol Lines by initiating right changes in it for the purpose of composing it in different Taal.
2. To be able to write a kaida in notation system. Also explain the legitimate Nikas on Tabla- Dagga.
3. Explain the Nikas of the ‘Jod akshar’ (Bol like Kradhe tita) with which Kaidas are composed that you play.
4. Explain the following terms with the help of examples.- Graha – Sama, Visham, Atit, Anaga, Nauhakka, Bedum, Dumdaar and Laggi etc.
5. Explain the aesthetics, Virtues and rules which should be taken care of while accompanying Vocal classical and Instrumental music. Write a detailed note on how to be prepared for making it beautifully relevant.
6. To be able to write a Kaida in notation system which comes in the syllabus and has odd matra (Anvat Taal) contained.
7. Write a note on how different types of Gharanas came into existence. Write the social and geographical prevalence on this entire process.
8. Explain the term ‘Jaati’ which comes in the art of Tabla playing.
