Practical Exam
1. Ability to play different Taal on Tabla with single speed. Simultaneously recite Aad, Double, Truplate, Quadruple and Sawagun (Kuaad) and come to the single speed or play the same on Tabla.
2. To be able to play Tilwada, Zumra and Vilambeet Ektaal etc. in Vilambeet Laya and coming on some by playing a short Tukda or Mukhda.
3. Ability to give information about which Taal’s thekas are played with which Gayki (singing style) and in which Laya.
4. Recite Kayda, Rela and Tukda Etc. by keeping Teentaal or Zaptaal’s taali (cycle/Aawartan) on hand.
5. Play Delhi, Ajrada and Farukhabaad Gharana Kaidas in double and quadruple speed.
6. To be able to play Kaida which has Tirakita, Dhirdhir, Dinganag bol in it with four paltas and a Tihai.
7. Ability to present tabla solo at least for 15 minutes with Lehera accompaniment in Zaptaal and Teentaal exploring all the aspects such as – Peshkar, Kaida, Rela, Gat, Tukda, Chakradhaar Etc.
8. Ability to recognize Sum and Mukhda of different singing styles, also to be able to provide accompaniment to it by playing the right theka.
9. Able to read bol or a composition which is written in notation system and play it in right laya (speed).
Written Exam
1. State the importance of Sum, Taali, Kaal and Khanda in Taal.
2. To be able to write single, double and quadruple speed in notation system of all the taal you have learned.
3. To be able to write all the Kaidas, Relas, Gats and Tukde Etc. by utilizing notation system in Rupak, Zaptaal and Teentaal.
4. Ability to write Taal Tilwada and Zumra in notation system.
5. By using Pt. Bhatkhande and Pt. Paluskar notation system, write double and quadruple speed of all Taal’s Thekas covered in the syllabus.
6. Detailed information of ‘Dashaprana of Taal’.
7. A detailed study of the both main baaj and all the Gharanas created on the basis of these two Baaj.
8. Give definitions of Peshkar, Kaida, Rela, Gat, Tukda, Chakradhaar and Tipalli Etc. with an example.
9. Create write Tihai in different Taal by using notation system.
10. Give information on the following singing styles and Taal that have been played with it – Khayal, Tarana, Bhajan, Dhrupad, Dadra.
11. Detailed study of the Gharana and its playing style in which you are learning under. Also the introduction of the legendary gharanas.
