Practical Exam

1. To be able to play Taal Tevara and Choutaal in single, double and quadruple speed by Pakhawaj playing style.

2. Ability to recite and play the single, double and quadruple speed of every Taal’s Theka you have learned until now.

3. Give detailed information for the Taal mentioned above and state utility of all the Taal.

4. Play Kaidas with four Palta and a Tihai in Teentaal and Zaptaal which belongs to Delhi and Ajrada Gharana.

5. Play Dumdaar and Bedum Tihai in Rupak, Jhaptaal and Teentaal.

6. Play solo for 10 Minutes in Teentaal and Zaptaal by bringing all the type of compositions mentioned below. – Kaida, Rela, Gat, Chakradhar and Tukda.

Written Exam

1. To be able to write Taal, which came in the syllabus by using notation system with single and double speed.

2. Write different types of Kaida, Rela, Gat, Tukda, Bedum Tihai and Dumdar Tihai using notation system in Teentaal and Zaptaal.

3. Complete study of Pt. Bhatkhande and Pt. Paluskar Taal system.

4. Brief information on ‘The Dashaprana of Taal’ (Multatwa/ elements of help making Taal).

5. Brief information on the two main Baaj of Tabla (Delhi and Poorab).

6. Comparative study of elegant instruments Tabla and Dagga. (Key points- Similarities, Differences, Playing style and structure etc.)

7. Draw a neat and clean diagram of Tabla and Dagga. Name the parts.

8. Give definitions – Dumdaar Tihai, bedum Tihai and Chakradhaar.

9. Write a detailed introduction of an internationally acclaimed Tabla artist you like.

10. Write about the Gharanas of Tabla, enriched with its great tradition.

11. To be able to write the differences and similarities between the Taal occurred in the syllabus so far, that have similar matras.
