In the next two courses, the student will be expected to make special efforts to develop his/her performance skills. He/she should be able to properly explicate and present a bandish with aalap, taan and bol-taan, and make the performance both balanced as well as impressive. As the student progresses through the courses, his/her depth of knowledge is expected to increase. Thus, even if the issues emerging in all further examinations are more or less the same, the student’s expertise in it is supposed to increase with each passing level.

1. Understanding Gharana style Gayki.

Understanding the style of gayaki and every gharana’s unique technique of raga vistaar.

2. Vilambit Khayal Raga in Gharana Style.

Learning raga in gharana style teaching, gharana style vistar of raga, bandish, taal, raga badhat alapi, layakari, taan patterns, etc. The ragas to be covered are puriya, bhoopali, darabari, multani, bibhas, bilaval, miya malhar.

3. Chhota Khayal Ragas

Raga vistar in gharana style, bandish, raga badhat alapi and taan. The raga list is adhana, basant, jinjoti, jounpuri, goudsarang.

4. Introduction To Thaat Mala.

Understanding the thaat mala. Getting familiar with ten thaats derived by pt. V. N. Bhatkhande. All 10 thaat to be covered in bandish with taal ektaal.

5. Dhrupad-Dhamar with Nom-Tom.

Initiation of nom-tom alapi raga vistar along with dhrupad – dhamar bandish with different taal, layakar and alapi. Preparing any two ragas in dhrupad dhamar.

6. Deep Study of Tarana.

Starting with nom-tom alapi, dhrut – tarana with different taal, alap and taan. Preparations of any two raga tarana.

7. Learning of Chatarang & Trivat.

Understanding the information of chatarang and trivat. Listening to chatarang and trivat. Preparing any 2 ragas for chatarang and trivat.

8. Learning Thumri & Dadra.

Collection of information to explore thumri and dadra. Understanding it by listening to thumri and dadra gayki style. Preparing any one raga in thumri and dadra .

9. Comparative Study of Raga.

Understanding similar raga and searching differences between them. Studying in depth of shuddha raga, sankirna raga, chayalag raga, sandhiprakash raga, jod raga.

10. Vilambit & Drut Taals.

Focusing on all basic taal, tevra, dipchandi, tilwada, ekgun, dugun, chaugun.

11. Performance Based Listening & Practicing.

Listening to all gaan prakaras like thumri, dadra, chatarang, trivat, vilambit raga, etc. Complete exam oriented revision and practice sessions.

12. Theory

Concluding study of bada khayal bandish, dhrupad, taal. Writing notation practice with laya prakar. Going through artist biography, tappa, hori, thumri, chatarang short essay, taan prakaras. Understanding Pt. Bhatkhande and Pt. Paluskar notation system.
