As the student’s familiarity with Indian classical music progresses, he/she will be exposed to the use of the tanpura in the presentation of music and also some semi-classical forms of music in this course. Also, there will be a written examination along with the practical oral examination here.

1. Exploring Tanpura & It’s Usage.

Introduction to Tanpura. Understanding the ways to use Tanpura while Singing, Basic Tanpura Tuning and Scale Information. And learning to play an acoustic Tanpura.

2. Advanced Alankar & Taan Patterns.

Learning Vakra (chromatic) Alankar & upto 10 Swara combinations of Alankar, Alankar self study pattern setup. Learning Shuddha Swara Palate & taan riyaz in Akar. Exploring taan patterns to improve the voice.

3. Each of The Ragas Exploration.

Getting familiar with discipline of Raga & Exploration of Raga Swara individually. Learning Raga Vistar, Raga based Alankar, Palate with Taal & Shuddha Swara Alankar in Raga.

4. Learning Bada Khayal Bandish.

Raga Kalyan and getting familiar with Bhupali. Progressing with Aroh-avroh-pakad ,Raga Vistar, Bada khayal Bandish in Vilambit Ektaal.

5. Exploring Chota Khayal Ragas.

Required ragas are Alhaya Bilawal, Vrundavani Sarang, Bhairav, Bihag, Kedar, Tilak Kamod, Asavari, Bhairavi. Practicing each raga with Aroh, Awaroh, Pakad, Chota Khayal Bandish, Sthayi, Bol Alap and Antara, Bol Alap, Bol Banav and Taan with different Taal.

6. Understanding Dhrupad & Dhamar.

In depth information about Dhrupad. Complete study of Taal Choutal and Dhamar. Preparations of both compositions with Dugun.

7.  Laxangeet & Tarana.

Preparing Laxangeet in 2 different ragas. Learning Tarana & understanding any 2 Raga Tarana with Explanation.

8. Learning  Bhajan &  Lokgeet.

Learning the famous bhajan ‘Payoji maine ram ratan dhan payo’. Preparing any lokgeet with detailed information.

9. Understanding Different Swara Types. 

Understanding and noticing Meend Swar, Kan Swar, Nyasa Swar with different examples for clear understanding.

10. Vilambit Taal Detailed Study.

According to the syllabus we conduct listening session. Complete revision & practicing of Raga, Alankar, Palate, Dhrupad, Dhamar, LaxanGeet, Tarana, Bhajan, LokGeet, Swara Prakar, Taal Practice, etc. Complete guidance from teachers.

11. Practice Session / Exam Preparation.

Detailed study of Vilambit Ektaal, Learning to write matra, Bol with exploration, Taal Lipi-Padhati. Getting familiar with Vilambit Laya, Teental, Ektal, Choutal, Dhamar, Dadra, Zaptal, Keherava.

12. Theory.

Difference of North Indian and South Indian Classical Music. Importance of Nada, Gana-kriya, Definitions of Janya-Janaka Raga, Purvang- Uttarang Raga, Shudha-Chayalaga-Sankirna Raga, Dhrupad, Dhamar, Bhajan, Meeend, Gamak, etc. Exploring Pt. Vishnu Narayan Bhakhande and Pt. Vishnu D Paluskar Notation System. Biography of Pt. V. D. Paluskar.
